Perhaps it's because the name 'Rachel' is Hebrew for 'ewe' or it's because of my lambie but the delightful combination of the two have developed in me an absolute LOVE for lambs! I don't have a lot of experience with many real ones but I was able to bottle feed a little guy in Kansas where my friends have a farm. His name was Cashew and I loved him!
More recently, my family and friends are popping out babies at an incredible rate and I've needed to sharpen my semi-professional Auntie-ness. I wondered what I could give them that was a personal touch and not just another onesie or cute outfit that would be outgrown and forgotten. What could be something I could make, perhaps, that could grow with the child to the same effect as my own lambie? My Mom had been making little lambies as gifts for years so, while she laughed her head off at showing me how to thread the machine, we were off to the races making one "Lambie Love" at a time!
Beyond just making "Lambie Love" as a companion, there is a greater purpose. In John 21:17 Jesus said, "feed my sheep". My hope and desire is that the purchase of a "Lambie Love" will initiate a commitment to give and love outside of your circle of influence:
- give food to your local food bank
- put together a food hamper for a family in need
- make supper for a busy Mom and family
- volunteer at least one hour of your time for someone (yard work, painting, babysitting...)
May each time you see a "Lambie Love", you are reminded of your blessings and your ability to give more of yourself to those who need a hand every once in a while. And beware, something good will come your way!
I just got my Lambie Love for my soon to be here grandaughter. I love it and I know she will. After reading this I love it even more and have asked Jenny to order me another one for a friend and after reading this I know for sure it is a perfect gift for her. Thank you, Linda
